Glide's top 20 albums of the year

I just counted and I had only heard of 12 out of the 20 of the artists listed! And I have only actually listened to one of those albums. (guess!) I am not trying to boast of my ignorance or anything, based on the artists listed in the top 20 and the runners up I would trust the judgment of the person who wrote the list and will probably try to check out some of their suggestions, finances willing. (between flyin' back east for NYE and my new RAID I really shouldn't be spending any money on CD's for a little while.)

ive listened to the majority of these albums thanks to rhapsody.
its amazing how similar most lists are across the spectrum. the hold steady, the decemberists, tv on the radio have all been in the majority of top X lists ive seen so far this year.
id never heard of the hold steady until i listened to "all songs considered" on npr. it really does remind me of bruce springsteen.
the decemberists album is worthy of all the accolades.
the slip, of course, deserve to be on any list of best albums...maybe my love for them is getting in the way...doubtful though.
one 2006 release that i haven't seen mentioned anywhere is tokyo police club's EP "a lesson in crime". a friend of mine introduced me to them earlier this year. listen to the EP and it makes you long for more. makes you wonder what else they are capable of.

Album Review
Tokyo Police Club delivers a jerky, unsettling debut EP with seven short but sweet killer cuts. This quirky Canadian post-punk band blends heavy bass licks, emotive guitar hooks and noise-pop dance beats in each of their two minute tracks. Fragmented, raw and unrestrained, A Lesson In Crime is jammed with songs about Martian moons and the apocalypse, in addition to swift, catchy tunes like "Cheer It On" and "If It Works."
