Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. - RIP
Perhaps the greatest humorist this side of Mark Twain just passed away. I haven't had the time to read all of his works, but Vonnegut altered my mind-set permanently and acutely. He had a way at laughing at human failures and perhaps even foretold the end of the human race. There's a great interview of him recently in Rolling Stone.
My three favorite authors are now all dead.
Richard Brautigan shot himself.
Douglas Adams died way too early of a heart attack.
At least Vonnegut made it to 84. We've lost one of our great spokespersons for basic human decency.

"Expressing a human need, I've always wanted to write a book that ended with the word Mayonnaise."

"No Matter how corrupt, greedy, and heartless our government, our corporations, our media, and our religious and charitable institutions may become, the music will still be wonderful.
If I should die, God forbid, let this be my epitaph:
THE ONLY PROOF HE NEEDED
FOR THE EXISTENCE OF GOD
WAS MUSIC "
(This is from A Man Without A Country)
