Odd to me that tunes like Kisses from Chelsea still haven't made it to an album. I wonder why that is?

@Booher
I think this was really the problem with The Slip in the end, they didnt really feel like there was a way to move forward musically from where there were. To the end, i am glad that b-sides and live songs, ostensibly from older recording sessions, will continue to be live rarities as opposed to occupying the real estate that newer, presumably sonically different, songs are.
I am pumped for the new album and already bought tix to see them in Brooklyn.
Happy to say hello any anyone else that's going.

what was the song "widow's lawn" they released last year? Wasn't sure if that would be on an album or just some single they released. I think i was surprised as well that "Kisses from Chelsea" didnt make it on sleepy operator as well.Caleb wrote:@Booher

IIRC it was just a one off they released for Veterans day.

Check it out - the Vinyl and CD tracklisting are different orders. I wonder if they wanted to get the whole album on a single Side1/2 vinyl. (side note: I welcome this trend! So many band recently have 11 tracks spread over 2-3 vinyls.)

Or even on the Alta Falls ep!Kevin_Kjr wrote: what was the song "widow's lawn" they released last year? Wasn't sure if that would be on an album or just some single they released. I think i was surprised as well that "Kisses from Chelsea" didnt make it on sleepy operator as well.

Kisses from Chelsea really feels like an outlier for Sleeping Operator, which seemed to prefer a dark folk / blues / singer songwriter feel. I've heard the studio version of the title track "Sleeping Operator" on Nathan's radio show, and wish it had been on the album as a lead into love ain't enough.
I think Andres (side note, whatever happened to him?) and Brad mentioned in an interview there was 40 or so tracks recorded and then they made decisions about what the final 12 would be. I'm sure that's a crazy difficult process.
I've often wondered about albums that could've been... "Kisses from Chelsea" and "Chrysanthemum Bop" are similar in feel and would be great on a more Elvis Cosetello-y inspired album. Maybe "More Intense Surveillance" on that one as well. In fact alot of 2006-2008 era Slip songs would fit in with Kisses from Chelsea on an album. "All I saw was you", "Broke the Promised land", "Portrait of a Scientist", "Guante Debutante", "Stealing Bread", "Take the bus", "wolfmother", "catch a villain" - all a bit more rock leaning
hmm starting down a rabbit hole here...

Think Andres has been gone for a few years at least. Not sure what happened or where he went
