Built to Spill, Brighton Music Hall 9/29-10/1

Anyone catch them? I saw last night's show. Didn't get a set list, but can try to put together some stuff I remember if anyone's interested. Not the same set as what bradm put up in the taping/trading forum. I missed the first opener but didn't realize the bass player was the frontman for the second...

Re: Favorite Slip Venues

That's awesome! Tweedy never seems to make his way to Eastern MA. The last, and only time I saw Wilco was in Lowell, and the show got rained out, but I think we were pretty well into the set.

Re: Favorite Slip Venues

Some of the folks around here who are more privy to the Slip will know more of the Meowskers story...I certainly don't. I'm not even sure why Mr. Meowskers is named as so. But, yep! That was the show. He was drunk as hell, and it was great. They really did a great job hitting the air-y nature of tha...

Re: Favorite Slip Venues

Probably the most memorable to me are my first show, at the Axis in '04, and when they played Everybody Wants to Rule the World at the Pearl St. Ballroom in Northampton. Stone Church in Newmarket was always pretty cool, too. The Met was also pretty sweet. And always a treat to catch them at The Para...

Re: New Wilco Album Star Wars

Saw them at GOTV as well. First time seeing them. Here are some iPhone shots. http://imgur.com/a/4UAqW#0 That amp shot....did you catch if it was a Marshall? Or some sort of clone? Really odd that they plug the "1" channel inputs and only go into one of the "2" (usually 1/2 are ...

Really posting this because the opening commentary is pretty funny (what the hell did they just reefer...er, refer to us as?)

Re: New Wilco Album Star Wars

Certainly. In some ways it's new, in some ways its a bit forgettable, but overall, I think it's just generally "quirky".

...Different. But I like it. Only really starting my second spin, now, but More... stands out to me at first.

Re: The big ol' Sliplive thread for VIDEO links

Finally watching this. Good stuff.

Anyone else ever think that this tune was what inspired More Intense Surveillance? The beginning guitar lick, with the m7 to the 6th interval is preeeeetttty close.

Re: concepts behind alivelectric and aliveacoustic

i wish they had done more of these albums, to hear songs they played so rarely. Definitely would be awesome to hear. However, whenever I point someone in the direction of the band I tell them to start there, as they're a bit more accessible than the earlier jazzy type tunes. I think these albums re...

What is the approval process like with the band?

I'm obviously stoked to listen, but you've got a lot on your plate. Just grateful you took the time and made the sacrifice to get the recordings.
