this was probably the best year for me ever in terms of live music...and I didn't even get to any festivals. absolute favorites: 6/17: My Morning Jacket @ Le National, Montreal - saw MMJ twice this year, the other show being the one they played in pouring rain in Boston. that show had a better setli...

fun times, fun times. it did feel a bit short but going by the clock it was just short of 2 hours so it wasn't too out of the ordinary, especially since we got a pretty long Duo set earlier too. great to hear all those songs again, even a few old ones that I never thought I'd get to hear. of course ...

anyone have 2005-12-28 Providence?

I was looking through my music and realized that I have a really good recording of Apollo's opening set from this show but not The Slip's set. did this surface and I just missed it? I'd love to get a copy if its out there. I remember it being one of my favorite Slip experiences, and it was the only ...

Metropolis is a good venue, has pretty good sound and an awesome balcony. it's like the world's classiest rock club. It's absolutely huge though, probably holds about 2000 or so.

They are not, one's an Imitation, one's a "klone.com", whatever that is.

And I lied, the other disc is actually 9/6/98, which is a High Sierra show according to Slipbase. Probably in wide circulation, but I'll upload it if anyone would like.

Track 4 - Ernie Mickey
Yeah, they are. I don't know what the deal is with that.

so, a few weeks back I was going through the CD bin at Recycle North, a thrift store in Burlington, and I found two Slip CD-Rs. one is a copy of the 9/16/98 show. the other is a mystery. it just said "Slip CD" written on it. I think it's a mix of different shows. it's definitely very old-s...

anything from Alivelectric, but especially Driving Backwards
the too-short-lived rock version of Weight of Solomon
Mothwing Bite (hey Marco will be there, why not)
THE WOODS
Back in 15 Minutes
Something Learned
Old George
Dear Milena
Through the Iron Gate

...anything that's not Life in Disguise

Andrew Bird has a really nice Youtube channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/andrewbirdmusic). more bands/artists should follow his lead.

Concert DVDs can be risky I think--they can be amazing (Okonokos, Jeff Tweedy's solo live DVD) or they can be terrible (Ween: Live in Chicago).

Um so this was a good show, yes? I don't have a setlist I'm afraid. but know that it included most of Invisible Baby plus My Morning Jacket's Golden, and Deerhoof's Twin Killers which was a brilliant choice. i don't think very many people in the crowd knew they were covers, but no one seemed to mind...

agh the Internet seems to have eaten my reply... Anyway, I would've given the album a bit more credit to be honest, I think it's great. I think the contrast between the vocals and the musical arrangements is one of the strong points. and I disagree that the songs all sound the same, they're very dis...

well that was awesome. about a million times better than the trainwreck of a show they played last year at UVM. mostly because this time they had a full 13-member contingent, with Lizzie Powell playing the role of BSS girl. and only 3 songs from Canning's album. 2.5 hour show. lots of fun. and Land ...
