Re: ISO 4.18.2004 Live at the Axis, Boston, MA
I was just thinking about this show the other night... and the drive down and back to Vermont with Paul, arriving in Burlington as the sun was coming up. One of the crazier one-night road trips I took to see The Slip, probably the second-longest after the whirlwind trip from Boston to NYC on 12/26/0...

Re: The Slip - 12/30 and 12/31 at Cafe du Nord in SF
*sigh* These shows always break my heart a little bit... I love SF and with family to visit I have such a good excuse to fly out there and go, but life always seems to get in the way. Ah well. Those of you that can go, enjoy it for me! I'll keep my fingers crossed for a web-cast, since I'll likely b...

Re: The Slip 7/14 NYC, 7/16 providence
Nice, Harry! If you're flying out, I totally feel like a wimp for bailing on driving down. I'd been planning to drive down for Providence, but I have to stick around Burlington Friday, and I just don''t think I can do 9+ hours in the car in two days. I have many fond memories of road trips to Slip s...

Re: SMMD Mini Canadian Tour
They've been working on getting him in. It's just been a matter of money to sort out the whole mess. Their mgmt told me that they would take care of it this summer, so I guess it's being sorted out. I'm assuming when you say money you mean a legal type of issue? I know a few Vermonters who it's hap...

Re: SMMD Mini Canadian Tour
Nice! SMMD is on the bill for the Liberate Music Festival, which is Aug 18-21 in northern VT, so I'd guess another couple of dates might pop up in between?
I'd been hoping they'd play a few more shows this summer or early fall since I can't travel much this winter.

Classic show. I went to so many in '03-'04 that I actually had to stop and think about whether I was at this one. But I definitely remember the TV smashing. I think both Tasoula and I had pics, though not on the web anymore. I'm looking through my archives, I bet I have a few.

Re: Rubble Bucket (new to me - and wow)
Rubblebucket is great. It's amazing to see how far they've grown since branching out of the Burlington music scene. Thanks to the founding member's VT connection (Alex and Kalmia went to UVM) we ended up scooping them up to play a set at my wedding back in '08 before they were touring nationally (an...

Re: ISO - Dear Milena SBD
Do any SBD recordings of the song Dear Milena exist? I'm amazed that I can think of one without even having to look it up: 03/21/02. One of my favorite Slip recordings and I think the first one I had with Dear Milena. Pretty sure the circulating copy back in the day had SBD lineage. My copy on disc...

Re: Chrysanthemum vs. Something Learned
Interesting find! Although you never know who actually submitted the paperwork, so it's still a little subjective. Tons of mistakes also get through when the paperwork on music is filed. Hilarious example: my husband's last album is listed with a parental advisory for "explicit content" on...

I think Chrysanthemum was the one that stuck in Slipbase. I vaguely recall hearing a recording of an early version of the Chrysanthemum portion of the song without the 'Something Learned..' verses. It was probably coming out of an instrumental jam. Can't remember what show it was, I'd love to track ...

Nice! Thanks for posting this. I can't make it, but passed along the info to a friend who's going up to Montreal this weekend. ps: If anyone going likes funk/soul/afro-beat, I recommend checking out the Budos Band that night too (their show is late). Their last show at Higher Ground was so good. htt...

Not a torrent, but there are some downloads in FLAC and MP3 hosted by the kind folks behind VermontLiveMusic. If you scroll down, you'll find 05/15/10 under The Barr Brothers, here: http://www.vermontlivemusic.com/. There's also some SMMD, Nathan Moore and Marco Benevento Trio. (I know the 06/12/09 ...

Flying between Christmas and NYE is always a little more expensive than normal, unfortunately. Looks like prices go down a bit by Jan 3rd or 4th. I'm finding some non-stop flights from Boston or NY for under $500 with the return flight coming back mid-week. It's under $400 with 1 stop. That's not to...

Oh wow. I probably shouldn't, but I'm pricing airline tickets to SF. I can't make it to Narrows, which would be easiest one for me to go to. I could go to Brooklyn, but the expenses of going to a show in NY add up fast... So if I'm going to spend the money to get to a show... a week in SF in January...
