Sorry to inform the board that Club Helsinki in Great Barrington MA is closing - yet another victim of the economic downturn. For those of you who've seen the Slip there (or anyone else for that matter), you know it's a special music room. Sorry to see it go.

Ahh, I remember that show well. It had snowed that day and the crowd was smallish. Inside a big beautiful ballroom. The band probably lost a bundle on that show. Those were the days when the Slip was big, bold and took chances. Sigh......

I was there for both nights and had a blast. Friday was packed and the energy was high. Saturday was less packed and more mellow, but the music was great just the same. Musicians are notoriously lousy businessmen. I'm friends with Dave Fiuczynski and the boys in Vorcza, and half the time they can't even be bothered to post their gigs on their websites. It drives me crazy! But telling an artist that he/she needs better management can be a delicate thing....

Hey all - the Narrows has announced a Surprise Me Mr. Davis show for August 27, and yes, that's the name they are using for this show. Hopefully there'll be a few more shows announced soon.
