a good reason to talk to tapers at the show

I always see people looking online for the taper that was at the show the night before. This bugs me because they were right there and could have gotten his info that night. I bring this up because I've heard that every night of the SMMD tour has been recorded. 11/17, 11/18, and 11/19 were people I lined up and will have access to. 11/14, 11/15, 11/16, and 11/21 (so far) were recorded by people who I do not have contact info for. So far they are not online. There is a good chance that they never will be. Hell, there has been Slip shows recorded where the taper didn't dig it and recorded over the DAT's. If people had expressed interest they likely would have been saved. So that is 4 shows from this tour that people recorded but we might never see. The online taping communities have not spoken up to answer my inqueries about these 4 shows. So the taper(s) might not even be online. If people had talked to them that night we might have access to the recordings. Not all tapers give a shit about the internet, seeding recordings, or even trading for that matter. From my personal experiences it seems that people (nowadaze) assume that there is a taper so tomorrow the show will be on etree. This is NOT the case.

Of course this is not really a big deal. I'm only making this post to show that this stuff happens and it doesn't have to. So if getting a recording is something you want to do, then talk to the recordist that night when they are not busy. It might be the only hope.
