Thanks Harry, I didn't have either of those.

I have an acoustic show from them....do you have the date of that show? Has such gems as "Get Down and Sruti", some Isaac Taylor collaborations, including "Ego Tripping at the Gates of Hell"....

I could get that one zipped up if I can upload it somewhere.

I think its 11/28/03 - great show

11/29/03 is the super elusive one (if anyone has it :) )

two greatest back to back shows of my life right there.

thanks for the others harry.

11-29-03 has one of my top 3 favorite slip jams ever... in "come over" then known as "cut from the cloth" they go into a crazy jam of "heart shaped box" in which andrew puts every drummer i've ever heard to shame, and brad rips some crazy fast indian sounding stuff. it's fantastic. oh yea and i was there too :-) the wolof is also superb, and more intense i think is also on that show. it's really really epic, all of it. but mostly that heart shaped box jam. i've never heard andrew so fast since then.

Yeah I saw that More Intense was on that one. Looking forward to listening to that one. I don't know if it tops the Lupo's one on the live CD, but I kind of hope so. I'm still pissed I lost that album (technically, a friend borrowed it and scratched the hell out of it).

re: more intense....

11-18-05, for me, is the defining performance of it (more intense surv...) i don't know what it is brad is using to make his guitar do that. i think it's the DD-5 delay pedal but man, what a cool noise.

Being the gear nerd that I am, I don't think Brad's ever used a DD-5. For delay, he's got an Electro-Harmonix Deluxe Memory Man, and I think he's got a DOD digital delay. But if it's what I think it is, it's probably a ring modulator, more specifically, the Electro-Harmonix Frequency Analyzer. I got one recently, and it's so much fun. All of my music is held on an external HD though, so I'll have to give that one a listen either on my ipod later on or when I hook up the external HD...which is usually when I go to add music to my ipod.

my mp3 of the (11-18-05) more intense s... is from the 2005 fan compilation. the cool effect i'm talking about starts approx. 3:11. if you know what pedal is doing that, guitar center is going to be a hundred bucks or so richer.

Yeah that's definitely the Ring Mod.

EHX came out with a smaller sized enclosure for the Frequency Analyzer, but it still runs at 40v, so it's still got that fat, analog sound that the big box had. I just bought one recently, but it's the older big box one. They're significantly cheaper, for the most part. I got this guy for about $85, shipped. Brand new, the XO sized FA's are like $149, new, and you can find them online for about $120ish, used. They're a bit harder to find, though...ring mods can be tough to use if you don't know what you're doing.

If you want a ring mod that's got more bells and whistles, a lot of people love the Moog Ring Mod....it's got an awesome trem on it. But it's considerably more expensive. EHX has another one, too, the Ring Thing, which lets you save presets, has an auto tuning feature (hold the switch, and it'll tune to the note you're playing), has outs for stuff like expression pedals and all of that.

This is a pretty good demo of the ring thing, though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mT9fmI3Q ... re=related

The bit at the end made me want one pretty bad. Never ended up getting one, though.

wow that's great info...

do you think that's the expression pedal he's using? there used to be some pictures of his rig at slipbase... poking around now.

The old one doesn't have an expression out. Just an input, Output, and dry output, as far as I remember. So, nah. Although he might be doing some funky stuff with his wah.
