Cleantone's Collection Podcast

So after tons on work I've finally got a website and podcast rolling. Both elements need more work but they should be good enough to do a little soft launch with. My episode 3 should be a fantastic Marco Benevento recording from 12/30 Highline that probably should have been episode 1. But for Episode 1&2 I decided to use the Jalbatross: Dogs on Bikes homage to The Slip show. I have to run to work but would appreciate any feedback if you have issues. I'm not sure what is up with iTunes in updating the feed. It looks like only episode 1 is showing. In other podcast apps both 1&2 show up fine. I might have an issue with the album specific artwork. I'm working on that.

If you go to my site http://www.clintonvadnais.com/ and then to http://www.clintonvadnais.com/cleantonescollection there is an iTunes subscribe link, or you can stream the show there on the blog page. I don't want it to be the portal but there is also a link to go to the host and get an Apple Lossless version with chapter points. I'm new to podcast and want to roll it out slow. I'm also self conscious about my voice in it but I think it's requisite really. It took a long time to record Episode 1's intro but much less for Episode 2. That said subscribing, rating, and reviewing on iTunes would be swell. I'm working on Stitcher too but I screwed it up and need to fix something.

Enjoy!

listening right now, great audio, much appreciated Cleantone, looking forward to more shows. You said you first started recording music in the 90s, how did you first hear/ get into the Slip?

I told that story somewhere recently. The short version is that I went to The Ironhorse on 4/24/98 (today is my 16th anniversary) to see Schleigho. I was in line with some recording gear. People kept asking me if I was going to record The Slip. It was a co-bill. I hadn't heard of them. Schleigho played first. I might have left but Erik from Schleigho said he was going to sit in with The Slip. So I stayed. By Spice Groove they had blown my mind and the rest is history.
04/24/1998: Iron Horse Music Hall: Northampton, MA
Set I: ?, Pictures of Callisto, Spice Groove, Yellow Medicine, *Bluegrass Jam > *Steel Drum, Zion**, Rhythm A-ning, Alsoa
Notes: * with Erik Egol on drums **with Jesse Gibbon on organ (both from Schleigho)
Fortunately and unfortunately I left MA to go to Full Sail in FL from 1/99 till 11/01 and only got to see The Slip a time or two in that window. I saw them a few times in 1998-1999 and on 12/31/00. When I came back to MA I think the show at UMASS was my first show back recording The Slip. I teamed up with Jim Crichton and got a nice recording. Missed a lot of good stuff in that window though.
11/20/2001: UMass - Student Union Center Ballroom: Amherst, MA
Set I: Witch in the Kitchen^, Pictures of Calysto, Gecko > Zion, Love and Tears
Set II: improv* > Dogs on Bikes tease > untitled > Lemonade tease > Antiquity, Don't Foil the Mohel
Encore: (Take A) Beetle to the Badlands
Notes: ^ debut? * w/Emiliano Garcia Garcia of the Inner Orchestra on tenor sax

I have some fond memories of Northampton and shows being played there. I had a thread a few years back asking what happened to Northampton or more what happened to all the great bands they used to get. I remember seeing my first slip/SMMD show, Soulive, Ryan Adams shows in that area. Now it seems like they dont get those type of acts anymore.

The local scene in Northampton is pretty good. Bishop's Lounge is probably the best place to see music. I haven't been to IHEG venues in a while. I don't get out as much as I used to either though.

I've kept myself fairly busy with work, but I'm looking forward to getting my ears into all of this material, for sure!

Boy that Billy Martin/Wil Blades vid is sweeeeeeet. Having been a drummer in a past life (and recently having had a couple of opportunities to play around with a Hammond M3), watching the different close up angles on those guys is really fascinating. You are knocking it out of the park with these Clinton, thanks for working so hard on them and sharing them!

Thanks for the feedback! I'm a little overdue on the next episode. Between Phish and the Wook Flu from Phish I didn't get an episode ready for this week. I've been trying to do two a month but it's a lot of work and I don't have a lot of time these days. Also trying to get my audio bumpers can be a little tough. Billy is still planning on sending one that I will edit into a new version for whomever might download it in the future. I'm kinda waiting on BAM to help me out too :) I need to collect them in person, it's a lot easier.

All that said I'd appreciate any help with promotion. The last couple of episodes have half of the downloads than some of the preceding. I guess it is what it is but it would be nice to build it up some.
