You want this if you don't have it! No more Ho-Down so we through a Sho-Down. By the way if we can come up with the cash we may have a Sho-Dwon too electric boogaloo this summer! Private Schleigho party!!

I suggest we have some bake sales... or one of these...

I'm guessing we'll have to sell a lot of lemonade though... but we could probably sell more if we spiked it! 8)

yo tone, was this what you sent me in 02?

what do you know about this private sho down? how much? paco?

i would pay $100 bucks for the slip, schleigho, jfjo, duo.

and a surprise appearance by lake trout!

spoiler: the echoes is a little too short for my taste, but if theres any band that can pull it off its these guys.

I'm not sure. Enough to rent a small venue, pay for sound, and pay a few bands. So at least a couple few K. I'd chime in over at thier board and express interest.

Way too big!! The best would be the old Wendell State Forest! The ShoDown was small. It was in Himrod, NY at some small camping/cookout place. We actually had Phil from Taft, the guy who did sound at Slip NYE this year mixing front of house.

so you're saying almost like a tyrone farms type place... about that size...

I think we could get away with much smaller venues than that. I'd like ot have a Slip party there again this summer though! Or even better Bethel farm.

It ain't as easy as you think. Give it a shot sometime (I did). Ever calculate how many portolets you need per 20 people? Or whether or not you server alcohol? How you manage water supplies or bad weather? It's no joke...all these things (and many more) have to be factored in...besides the cost of the bands.

So 100 bucks per is like yeah cool but who else would pay that? You have to figure tickets based on who's coming (for sure) and what the bands are charging (which can change). It's like hitting a moving target with darts made out of jello.

Most festivals lose money (Creekside for instance, even before people started dying).

Then you have to set a limit and how do you refuse customers who are willing to pay more to go?

Have an auction?

Smaller is better. 2/3 bands is much easier than 5 bands. When you go over a day, you double or triple your costs.

PAs are like a grand a day (or more) plus engineers. Then, do you want lights? Double that. To have even a small festival is like 8 or 10 grand (unless it's ghetto style, tarps and bamboo stage and if it rains, forgetaboutit).

Family controls Tyrone, so get off that horse before it throws you (like it did me).

Bethel has serious environmental limitations (I'd go into detail, but this is long enough to illustrate my few points).

Spend your dough on High Sierra or Jazzfest--you'll get much more bang for the buck. (unless you have a few grand and just want to hire one or two bands for your own private party...this is much more doable than a festival...just ask AZ Pro).

Wendell can't ever happen again 'cuz of the smack kids who fucked the whole scene up by OD'ing, requiring ambulances, stupid other kids smoking right in front of cops...of course they're going to search random campsites! What a fiasco!

I won't even mention the rapes at Berkfest....

yeah... I understand the demographics of it.. but sometimes, it's just really nice to pipe dream....

In a perfect world, I'd have a mansion with it's own theatre and I could just throw a private party...

none the less.. it's nice to dream...
aaahhhhh

uhhhh... I'm not not licking toads....
