Airplane/Primitive (Marc Friedman)

The Airplane...
the primitive saw it and
thought it was some kind of bird

It landed,
he made up his mind,
"I can't live knowing there's some other world

where men fly
up in the sky"..
strapped himself to the wings for a one way ride

in the air,
above a cloud,
there his soul stayed when his body fell down

I think Marc wrote them. I don't know. I meant that Brad typed them out per request on the graffitti. I couldn't say who wrote them for sure.

this song has really been in my head since I heard them play it, really impressed with those lyrics. Very nice conversation that really fits the music perfectly.

Flight of the Peruvian Airplane?

Glad to see them writing epic, linear, one-direction tunes again.

so im pretty sure this was noted in the setlist from Hunter mountain, but this had a whole different approach in that set. For sure had at least another verse or two of different lyrics and was much shorter.

not yet sure if this is 100% or not...

it's the day before the rest of my life
and I feel like Dylan Thomas
since my muse of you stay I'll go
if I'm not lying I'm not being honest

it be the death of me to keep her paid
and my bride I haven't even laid eyes on
but my ghost they come to me these days
my companions from the day I was born

chorus:

the Airplane... the primitive saw it and
thought it was some kind of bird
it landed, he made up his mind,
"I can't live knowing there's some other world
where men fly, up in the sky"..
strapped himself to the wings for a one way ride
in the air, above a cloud,
there his soul stayed when his body fell down

oh come with me on a one way tour
and I swear I'll join you in the sun

chorus:

the Airplane... the primitive saw it and
thought it was some kind of bird
it landed, he made up his mind,
"I can't live knowing there's some other world
where men fly, up in the sky"..
strapped himself to the wings for a one way ride
in the air, above a cloud,
there his soul stayed when his body fell down

The attribution in SlipBase may be inaccurate, but it does look like a jointly-written effort. (Incidentally, there are typos in the transcription, which I just noticed.). The lyrics to all songs on the CD are found in the liner notes (a welcome addition).

The CD production is a masterpiece (as are the songs). Eisenhower also has the most extensive "thanks to" list I've ever seen on any CD or album. Very cool and definitely "over the top" all the way to the stylish hand-crafted typeface.

-Happy Hannukah!!!
