boo-yah, the grease is flowing...

Post: # 10301Post lumpy »

So I mentioned I was doing this awhile ago, but it took longer than expected...

This afternoon I cruised home from the farm on 100% recycled vegetable oil.

I bought a 1982 mercedes 300sd in late january, got it in good shape through my own hands, the internet, and a mechanic - and then got to reading a ton of info on veggie oil message boards and aquiring some of the bits and pieces needed.

I'd say at the start I had very little knowledge of cars or mechanical ability. The farm I work on runs our irrigation pump, tractor, and delivery truck on used grease so I definitely had a good understanding of the concept....but man does it feel good to have done this on my own!

I'll post pictures of the whole setup at somepoint soon....tomorrow I'll be driving into SF for the beck show at the fillmore :)

Dang, lumpy, you went and did it! Congratufrigginlations! The wonders of German engineering and American ingenuity. Keep tabs on your mileage...I'm curious how this puppy performs. Would love to see the pix.
