that's a good point that I never thought about, what about Sara Page as well? Both of their departures kinda seemed all of a sudden.

I have also wondered about Andres' departure. It seems meaningful that he doesn't mention the Barrs among his past affiliations on his site, and they didn't come up in a recent interview I heard. Part of that may be that he's leaned way into his jazz identity but seems possible there's more to that story. Life is complicated.

If I remember correctly, Andres was a jazz pianist first and foremost, and in the Barrs he was largely handling bass duty. Occasionally pump organ. I always found it a bit puzzling that he's used a Squier bass...

I would guess that Andres wanted to focus energy on piano and that instrument has always been more present on album recordings (and not heavily featured) over their live shows.

I believe he now is just doing the jazz piano thing in MTL.

Yes, that's my understanding. His latest records have some very heavy hitters from the NYC jazz scene playing on them. This is a reminder to me to add these records back to my to-listen list. https://andresvial.bandcamp.com.
