new slip e-mail

Post: # 7728Post lumpy »

Hey folks - just got the new e-mail from The Slip http://tinyurl.com/ada8w and thought that it read differently than any other slip e-mails or website blurbs.

Any recent change in their management?

It was a nice e-mail - I'm not knocking anything...just curious if anyone else agrees.

i dont want to sound bad or anything, but the comment about somerville made it seem sort of like a plea. I know im going, and i know that im supporting the hell out of them, and i happen to love their music despite some static minds.

but yes, it was differnt but i was almost pissing my trousers hearing 2 of my favorite bands to see playing on the same bill!

nope, just a big hometown show and we'd like to pack the place. it has been a while since there was a real boston show and a while since a somerville show.

Somerville = next double live CD

Post: # 7742Post Phrazz »

That's my rumor. Want to start one of your own? I heard costumes were mandatory at Somerville. They also have a BBQ in the back lot by the door.

Yeah, that mailer was a bit "different". I got a sense mgmt wants to impress that the times are more strict with the ST than with most other venues. Boston proper is open later, so people should get the after-show plan so it's
not like everyone standing around after the show (what bugs neighbors). There are plenty of good bars even in Davis, some have live music (like
the Burren, but the smaller places are much cooler). So the suggestion is get there early so you can max out on the good tunes, you snooze you lose and always good things happen at the ST. It is a cozy, classical, even inspirational room. The acoustics are fantastic and they've got the lights down finally. Some major people (Jerry, Phish, etc) have played there, and it's one of the best-respected venues on the east coast, so they expect a bit more maturity and are nicer in return. I've always had a good time there, and it seems BAM plays at the top of their abilities there.

So double live at the Somerville. Get it started! ;-}

So the opening band is coming on at 8PM? Which puts the Slip on at about 9PM or so?
