late last night (1:30 or so) i went out on my back porch and the moon had this gigantic ring around it. (I live in westport ma) i tried to take some pictures with someone elses camera, but they didnt turn out.

it kinda looked like it was caused by the glow of the moon on a thin haze that was hanging out overhead. the diameter of the ring around was at least 10x larger than that of the moon. it was pretty impressive.

did anyone else see it?

or has anyone heard of such a phenomenon before?

I've seen that before out at ocean beach in san francisco. It was incredible, and had never known what was up with it. Thanks for the link.

I saw a moon corona last night here in So Cal. I have seen this big halo before but haven't seen it in awhile.

that wasn't the moon, that was HAL.
