So I got a new job out in the Seattle area (Redmond) and will be moving out there in 2 weeks or so. I've been doing a lot of reading about the City and such but I was curious if anyone lived out there and could provide me with some info. I'm interested in finding out where are some good neighborhoods to live and any information on the music scene. Just any info at all really, thanks a lot.

Try to live near the water, maybe near the Experience Music Project. That's a hip neighborhood. There's lots going on in Seattle, and many good spots. The Triple Door is perhaps the phattest venue in the US (I like it better than Yoshi's...just barely). Down near the waterfront (Pike's Market) is pretty hip, too. Between Key Arena and Qwest field you can't go wrong, but up the hill in the Queen Anne district is also pretty hip (coffee shops, primo view, good mix of people). Just go from the Space Needle and head uphill. There's about 30 other good neighborhoods...try to live walking distance from work because walking is what Seattle does best (next to coffee, I guess). Bring an umbrella.

the only thing I really know about Seattle is the Hemp fest.. and that's just because one of my friends makes clothing out of hemp fabrics and has a booth there each year (I know this doesn't help... )... just make sure you wear plenty of steeler gear! 8)

I used to live there a couple of times.

Places to live:
Magnolia (great place), Freemont (great place), Ballard (ok)

Things to do:
Farmer's Market at Pike's place, killer solstice and equinox parties.

I hope this somewhat helps.
