Thought this was way too interesting not to share:

Being a photographer, I do my best to be cognizant of privacy. However, it's easy to just blindly label anyone with a camera as "papparazzi".

Our police have photos and can certainly invade privacy at will, though a citizen can do the same with a door-front security camera. And how many criminals have been caught on film? At least a few. I am not convinced that stats alone show that cameras are no deterrent. Speaking from my own personal experience, a camera has helped me from suffering from unlawful arrest (I know my rights, thanks). Once at a Dead show. Other times elsewhere...nice to have a camera when you're lawyer is not at your side. If your lawyer is at your side with a camera, even the judge will waver to support an unjust edict.

This is a complex scenario, which will only worsen as dragonfly cams hit the skies.

Anyone read Diamond Age by Neal Stephenson? That is sort of a nanotech 1984. [And if you haven't read 1984 yet, do yourself a favor now.]
