because i've been all about it recently, particularly phish, but I'll snag a print of whoever if it's it's cool and I try to grab a print from every concert I go to whether it's at the show or on ebay later......

I have this beautful Slip/Fred poster, signed by both bands, framed and it looks awesome

I have a Duo/Gordo tour poster from the 12/30 HG show. There was a typo so it was never sold or given out. That one stands out off the top of my head. Should have gotten it signed I guess.

I love concert prints - it's framing them that kills me.....even doing it yourself with americanframe.com is too much for me right now.

When I've got a little extra cash though, I can't wait to frame the beautiful mr. the cake print from this last 3 night slip run, along with one of Jerry from last summer's "Comes A Time" benefit.

I don't have it framed, but I ripped a slip showbill off a lightpole in santa cruz back in the summer of 2000 for a palookaville show.....ahhh, santa cruz in the summertime with the slip

yeah, im into it, but in the past the posters that i've really wanted have sold out too quickly.

Yah, tell me about it. Most of the time the frame costs triple what the print did or more. I have a sweet Jamcruise poster I got on board and it's signed by almost all the artists. Print cost me $50. Frame cost me just over $150. The girl in the print store said it best though. You're paying to preserve something you love for the rest of your life. It's worth a little investment.
But shit is framing expensive.

Never done the AmericanFrame.com thing, how does that work out for you? Do you have to have a clamp to work with to paste together wooden frames? It sounds hard and complicated.

I go to the Do It Yourself Framestore on Harvard Ave in Brookline. Great place. If you have original art you want to frame, they do it for 20% off on TUES nites......

I've framed with simple metal frames, and with wooden frames. Only the metal frames come disassembled (all you need is a screwdriver to put them together).....a drill does come in handy (or an electric screwdriver) with the wooden frames, because the pressure clips (which hold the print against the glass or plexi) need to be screwed into the back of the frame, and there are no pre-drilled starters.

It's actually really cheap (comparatively) and you have the option to get "archival" matting board and the UV-Plexiglass (both of which will help keep your print from fading, yellowing, or otherwise getting damaged in the years to come.

I've never done mattes (mats?) through them, but if you want to, they'll custom cut them for you as well.

So my question I guess it, after all is said and done and you've ordered everything and paid for S/H, wouldn't it be just as cheap if not cheaper to just go to the frame store? I would think S/H would be at least an extra $20.......

But I have been meaning to try americanframe.com

they only do the UV plexi... (it does look nice though)

The times I've ordered frames from them i've done a bunch at once (like 4-7 prints) so the shipping costs were absorbed.

I think I only did a monetary comparison one one larger print, but americanframe was 1/3 of the price the local custom framer wanted!

sounds good I'm gonna have to check into that.
