So I know its a little immoral, but i am totally going to buy it when it comes out....
Have any of you heard the new Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks album?
It totally rocks. I am only half way through my first listen and it is just great.
He does a fantastic job of reconciling the two distinct sounds he has created on his last albums. Strongly urge those who are fans to get it (not like you weren't going to) and those who want to hear something new to go out and get Real Emotional Trash.

Its streaming from his myspace page. I saw him last January in Sacramento and he played mostly stuff off the album which he was just about to record at the time. The material is insane live. I'm going to see him in North Adams in April. Anyone else?

Hell of an album, maybe his best solo/Jicks effort. trying to persuade myself that it will be worth the money and time spent to drive down to the North Adams show since he's got no Vermont dates in the cards apparently.

I don't like it as much as Pig Lib, but I think it's a lot better than the last one. For some reason, I still don't have his first solo album.
Pig Lib is pretty hard to top, so I'm not taking anything away from this album. Real Emotional Trash most definitely rocks.

Face the Truth never really clicked for me until last year for some reason. now I'm in love with it, or at least I was until I heard the new one. his first solo effort is miles behind, well, everything else he's done I think. a few good songs but, eh.
just got the hard copy of the new one in the mail today along with a badass poster. Thanks, Matador.

ITs funny, I always really liked the First album. Probably the whole reason I listen to him in the first place. Pig Lib is amazing though. Rocked my first headphones listen to Real Emotional at work today and it was even better than before...

i've always held 'face the truth' in high regard. some days i may even say it's his best solo effort. real emotional trash definitely rocks hard though. i'm pretty ticked work is gonna keep me from seeing him this tour, i saw him a few summers ago and it was redic. 20th anniversary of pavement is coming up, it would be great if they got back together for that.

I agree, face the truth might be my fave. the new one i'm started to like more and more. it's nice to hear him jam out but it works better live. I miss the indiosyncratic pop sensiblity of his previous releases...
