I reviewed the new Land of Talk album for tinymixtapes.com recently. Andrew plays on the record so here's a link if you're interested

agh the Internet seems to have eaten my reply...

Anyway, I would've given the album a bit more credit to be honest, I think it's great. I think the contrast between the vocals and the musical arrangements is one of the strong points. and I disagree that the songs all sound the same, they're very distinguishable, even among the rock numbers--I mean, Some Are Lakes and Give Me Back My Heart Attack, they're back to back but they're totally distinct from one another. the first one's more of a sensitive indie rock heartstring-tugger, the latter is bordering on punk. Similar moods and timbres throughout, yes, but Lizzie's a skilled enough songwriter that each song has its own flavor.

I appreciate your reply and I'm glad that you enjoy Land of talk so much. Perhaps if i saw them live I would change my mind but honestly i don't feel they are doing anything that plenty of other bands aren't already doing better. I just don't get it i guess...

I wonder if this is what its like when when i try and convince someone how amazing the Slip is and they just don't get why i love them so...hmmmm
