Quiet end of the year for the brothers Barr...

Anyone have any updates on albums, shows, reunions, nostalgia, anything?

Brad Barr is doing a solo opening-slot show in Wakefield, QC on Jan. 31, but aside from that, I haven't heard anything.

Cancel that. The venue's event info now lists a different opeing act.

I hope to hear from them soon; I just saw The Low Anthem on NYE here in Boston (really weird without Jocie in the band, too).

Now that I think about it maybe not all that unusual..

I don't know if it's all quiet: I found a Facebook event for a show in Montreal on Saturday, Jan. 18: "AC/DC High Voltage Project Redux", which is described as

Classic AC/DC album played live from beginning to end for your rock 'n roll pleasure by B. Barr, M. O'Brien, E. Digras, M.B. Wright, and P.Hall

I'm fairly confident that a new album WILL actually come out this year. They have proper management and a proper label now and plenty of momentum (I know, that was the story with The Slip in 2006). But things seem much much different this time around.

I had some inside info that they were just laying low over the holiday season in MTL and will be more active in the coming months.

Great news! I'm glad Marc has a regular gig! I'm not exactly sure what happened to Big Light, they were starting to sound pretty good and just fizzled. I'm guessing some real jobs got in the way. Marc is also in Costa Rica right now for Jungle Jam to play with Ryan Montbleau.

We havent heard or seen any new news or music coming from Slip or Barr Brothers? Are both acts pretty much done at this point?

The Barr Brothers were just at SXSW, from all reports they are working on a new album and will probably be touring this year.

The Slip seems to be in indefinite hiatus though from what I hear they are not broken up for good, just focusing on their other projects at the moment.

yeah but its been about 8 years since a new Slip album when we heard one was in the works. They def had enough material that never made it to an album.

The Barr Bros we've heard for over a year and a half that they would release a new album.

Obviously I'm not close with the band or know what they are doing but they must be working some other jobs cause I dont understand how they would be able to go so long without touring.

Secret City has been teasing the new record. Word is it will be out before the summer.

I've also heard email updates from the band will be starting up again.
