This isn't so much about the new lips tune, but somehow I've got Zaireeka on mp3, and if I was cool I could burn 4 discs and find four stereos, but then I thought, "Couldn't you just load all four discs up into different tracks in ProTools and burn them together so you could hear all four discs at once but out of one stereo?" and then I thought maybe that was cheating but I don't have or use ProTools so maybe someone (like Cleantone) can answer me on the facts of the matter without getting ethical or philosophical about it and perhaps we can have the ethical conversation later on.

Here's a response to the ethical question (from flaminglips.com):

Find your own way through new sound experiences with the experimentation kit you've got at your disposal... and if anyone offers you a single CD of Zaireeka mixed down from it's four parts, remember to laugh in their face.

well, then.

Technically you can mix the track in protools or another multitrack program. I haven't heard the disks or anything but I assume they would make it so they would go together. You can get weird sound anomalies mixing sounds, expessially when the sources are complex. Does it have something like stem mixes that fit together to make the real tune? Youd have a hard time to get 4 players to start and stay on time. Go for it.

the cd has a bunch of crazy sounds. i have it, but have yet to listen to all 4 at once (only 2 stereos). however, one dude on the lips message board made a 5.1 dvd mix of it along with some crazy video footage from some good movies. its very cool.
