Hey Clinton - I've got a friend who owns a DAT....but no mic's. Do you think it's worth asking to borrow the machine without mic's?

It's DEFINITELY worth borrowing the deck without mics. There may be someone there to patch out of, and every copy is one more shot as circulation. Be sure to bring patch cords for every possibility, and plenty of tape, battery power, and money to buy your patch a beer.

If someone tapes the show Brad would not likely want it circulated. That being said, he would have to actually approach the guy and work something out to make that happen. Either way it nees to be recorded. Bring the DAT deck and a couple few hours of tape because there will at least be some sort of sound reinforcement and minimally you can take a feed. You'll have to talk to Brad about it well before his set. Tell him I told you to try and record it for him. So far he is still not too into the idea of his solo set's circulating but at least for the reference and future trading. If someone tapes it and he doesn't tell them not to give it out then it will become like the first one he did in NYC, circulating but "shouldn't" be.
