Oshe looking for bassist:

Jake from Oshe just got in touch to break the news that their current bassist Ken doesn't want to do the touring band thing anymore. Wicked bummer since Ken had a great sound and was really cool taboot. These guys base out of the Albany NY area. They will be looking for a replacement ASAP. Thier music can be heard at thier website and on archive.org. They have a heavy fusion sound I guess you would day. Reminds me of Schleigho and now with the bass issue they REALLY remind me of Schleigho. They have been picking up some major steam in the recent year and that should continue. So if you yourself or someone you know can help or join please lend a hand. Before September would be ideal...

Here is the official werd: (please repost or forward to anyone you know how might be able to help)
New Bass Player needed for the full-time touring northeast regional band
Oshe (www.oshe.org).

Musical Influences include but are not limited to: Radiohead, Rage Against
the Machine, MMW, Soundgarden, John Scofield, Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis.

Looking for bassist that is ready to push musical boundaries fearlessly in
these rough areas of music.

Some stats on the band:

Oshe is a four piece full time touring act, having played 325+ shows in
the last two years, all over the northeast (NYC, Boston, Philly,
Burlington, Pittsburgh, etc etc). In the last year, the band has been
written up in the following music magazines/websites: Relix,
Jambase.com, Jambands.com, GlideMagazine.com, Jammedonline.com,
Albanyjazz.com, State of Mind Music Magazine, 7 days, Kyndmusic.com,
Muse Magazine, Overground Magazine, etc etc. To view full articles, go
to: www.oshe.org/music.html.
Oshe has created quite a buzz for themselves in the last couple of
years. The band had one of their Ithaca NY Haunt shows featured on
Archive.org last year, and in 4 months time the show has been downloaded
over 2700 times.
Oshe has performed with: Jazz Mandolin Project, The Duo, Umphrey's
MaGee, The Bad Plus, Jacob Fred Jazz Oddyssey, Lotus, The Breakfast,
Brothers Past, The Big Wu, and many others.

For music samples, go to www.oshe.org/music.html.

We are open to any and all SERIOUS INQUIRIES.

Please contact Oshe at: 518 253 5130, or email the band at: jake@oshe.org

I just sent an email to Brian Killeen. He was the bassist for ulu... really cool guy, I haven't talked to him in like a year though... so I don't know if the email address I have still works or not, or if he ever checks it. But, I figured it was worth a shot. So far as I know, he hasn't been doing anything really serious, but I guess he has been playing with the Josh Dion band (Josh was the drummer for ulu for a while). There a good band, very Van Morrison/Old Stevie wonder sound.. it's awesome. Anyway, like I said, hopefully he gets it and tries for it cause he's an awesome bass player. cool guy too... Best of luck to Oshe!

Brain would be a good addition for sure. It's hard to find the right player in the right area who is also available and into the idea. I hope they make it happen though. Ken will play with them through August but doesn't want to go into September and they don't want to make him do anything he doesn't want to.

I think it will be soon. I think I got the early edition. I do know alot of musicians but most are already in groups. I want to help them though for sure.

:( , that absolutely sucks. I find his bass playing to be an essential part of Oshe's sound. Wish Ken the best of course and hopefully Oshe can find the right fit.

speaking of ulu, are they finished? if that bassist played with oshe, that would be sick. hopefully this doesn't deter anything inside the band. any reasons to why he doesn't want to tour?

well... yeah.. kinda.. they been playing with the original line-up every once in a while... but other than that... Aaron (sax) has a kid now... and scott is still doing the solo thing (so far as I know...)... but you never know what will come in the future.. they are a bunch of awesome guys...
