Best torrent stuff

Post: # 18419Post putty »

Alright, I have a fairly new laptop, and i want to set it up for downloading torrents.

I have it set up on my PC, but I don't think I got the best downloading programs. Anyone have any suggestions or links to the best way to do the torrenting?

also PC? Are you planning on keeping music on large hard drives, burning to audio discs, transferring to ipods, etc.? Other torrents besides audio?

it's a PC also, yes.

I'm planning on keeping the large files on an external HD, and just playing them on my computer or burning them to a cd.

i may convert some to mp3s.

Hey Putty,

I'd give ABC a shot for torrent downloading; the folks over at etree have several clients recommended here.

The important thing with torrents is to be sure you pass the ports needed by the program through any firewall or router - there's lots of "how to's" on that etree page.

I'm not sure of a good FLAC or SHN player for PC's, but I'm sure there's one out there. foobar 2000 has a funny name and seems to be recommended
