"The harp is too rare in the blues and the group, very elegant, capable of beautiful velvet like rough cudgel, was already a mature bordering the insolence and had written a gaggle of more popular songs. Woodwork enthusiasts splinter and forests electrified, you are warned: you might love it."

-Les InRocks, France

Translating a review of your show from French into English is a cute bit of gimmickry that has probably been overused, but it's still the funniest, and possibly most accurate, way to convey the live show experience. Anyone who has been "cudgeled" by a harp might agree.

We hope you've had a great holiday season filled with love, family and trophies of admiration. For our part, we have dappled the upcoming months with a handfull of performances we'd like to tell you about. First, we will be returning to the Northeast states for a few shows in some of our favorite cities. These include 2 gigs with our good friend Jocie Adams, known for her exquisite work as a member of The Low Anthem....

Following that, we'll be heading to Austin, TX for South by Southwest in the middle of March, where vampires dressed as Betty Page serve you BBQ platters on Rock n' Roll buns. Again, dates and venues will be announced. And to kick off the summer season, Brad will be performing a solo show at The Louvre in Paris on June 17th, as part of a series hosted by French songstress Emily Loizeau . We plan on rounding this out with some Barr Brothers dates in France during that time frame. Stay tuned!

We are still proud to let you know that our debut album is available in limited quantity off our webpage and at shows. It has not been officially released and we hope to have it more readily available to you, digitally and physically, by this Spring. Thanks for reading!

PS. Do not fret, The Slip is still hard at work taming it's voodoo dragon into some new sounds... Stay tuned!

I'll be seeing The Barr Brothers 3 times in the next week and a half (opening for The Low Anthem and playing CMF all in Toronto), and I'll be covering each show so expect some sweet reviews, pictures and probably some video of this dynamic quartet pretty soon.

Slip set was about an hour, so was barr bros, assuming they did the same on Sunday that's probably 4-4.5 hours of some sort of barr music. Seems like the Sunday show may not have been taped though :(

bummer. is the headliner playing so short custom to the Japanese music scene? Or just b/c they played both as the slip and Bbros? So did Marc only play during the SLip's set? I feel last time they were there, they were doing 2 set shows. 4.24.04 comes to mind.

Well that 4/24 show was The Slip w/UA and 1st set was with her and then 2nd set was just The Slip. That was a longer show, probably around 2.5 hours for 2 sets. The 12/17/00 show was 2 sets, around 2 hours total. 1/13,14/02 were longer 2 set shows 2.7 and 3 hours respectively. The recently re-seeded 9/8/02 was a festival set about an hour and a half. 2/18/05 was over 2 hours but 2/19/05 was just an hour. 8/19/06 was a festival set but was around 1.2 hours.

Anyway now that I'm done geeking out it seems that though the shows tend to be on the shorter side over there this set seems very short. There was at least 1 other Japanese band on the bill though so they may have run out of time. I'm guessing though with the double bill with the Barr Brothers it is different than if it were just The Slip... and of course who knows what they played on Sunday.

2nd slip show in japan sounds like an interesting set from what i could piece together from a video clip:
mudslide, airplane/primitive, sometimes true to nothing, before you were born....
