if you haven't already made plans on popping some rolls and checking out the STS9 show tonight, i'd strongly urge you to check out robert walter's super heavy organ tonight at bb kings. reason i suggest this is A) saw them wednesday night and they ruled face B) he's only playing three shows with this lineup on the east coast so it may be your only chance to see this group.
i'm a big robert walter's fan, i've seen him in almost every package he's been in- three or four different lineups of 20th congress, with greyboy, the frequinox and with mike clark. this current lineup is by far the best group i've seen him with. i went expecting some nice trad b3 boogaloo but got mind warping acid jazz funk. the songs still revolve around the west coast boogie groove but this group just takes it OUT THERE into trippy, dirty funk. 2 drummers, sax and upright bass. i'f you're into the duo or schleigho then this is a must see. get it while it's HOT!
ps- can't wait to see robert with reed, rodney and kimock in a couple weeks!
