i was at the chicago show and was quite disappointed that the slip only played for about 30 minutes and played only 5 songs.

the opener catfish haven should never have been on the same stage.

i was hoping for a more varied set than that. i understand that they are out in support of a new album, which explains the set. im not upset at the song choices. im more upset at the lack of time the slip were slotted to play. until next time, i guess. they nailed every song. i have to admit that the slow brad song played between even rats and decembers was an odd choice considering the vibe. maybe they just needed a breather.

other that that, the show was sick. my morning jacket was as good as i imagined them being live and they came out for their encore with the chicago youth symphony orchestra and played 4 or 5 songs. excellent end to the night!

one other note. during one song, marc broke a string. brad said something to the effect that this was one of the first time's marc has broken a string...not sure if he meant this tour or ever. it was a funny anecdote, i thought.

damn that is short. the 930 club says slip at 830, mmj at 945. so depending on time for setup, it could be a short set for us as well.

so a 30 minute intense surveillance would be perfect.

maybe it was longer but after only 5 songs, i was like...whoa...what...thats it? the first opener wasnt even advertised and definitely cut into the slips time. i was expecting at least a 7-8 song set.

diesel just hope you dont get two of the same sets both nights...
