* w/ drum beat and loops. ^ not sure of title, so I guessed. Brad sat in with Nathan from "Gotta Make It" on. Very intimate show in a room like an old train car, very narrow. People were sitting on the floor, anywhere they could squeeze. Nathan seemed to be trying out some new material. Great crowd/band interactions like snapping, singing along and plenty of banter. They asked what we wanted them to close with and I shouted "Don't Have to Say You're Sorry" and they ended up closing with it which was nice of them. Great night, wish I could've been at Union Hall but atleast I caught this one.

I have some pics and a short video clip that I'll post once I get the pics on my computer. JB and Zoe were both taking a bunch of pics too and there was a woman videotaping the whole show with a nice camera so we'll see if that ever surfaces.

Thanks for the setlist bear! Seems like a good weekend was had in NYC by all...

I wonder if unknown rag was Cannonball Rag....

this room was awesome, the sound was amazing, I hope something eventually surfaces from this truly special night. I left this feeling like I had just seen two overly talented individuals play music. Brad's new tunes were amazing both lyrically and musically. Nathan's set was an experience I'll never forget.

Anyone know who was running those mics? I would love to hear this one... And is it "Sometimes Its Wine" or "Coffee and Butts"?

I guess technically its "Coffee and Butts (Take One)" but I've always called it "Sometimes There's Wine" (which I think is a better title, not that I have any sway or say) before the SMMD album came out. Oh well...

Surprise Me Mr. Davis’ Surprise

As previously reported, on Saturday Surprise Me Mr. Davis, the union of The Slip and Nathan Moore, performed a rare show at Brooklyn, NY’s Union Hall. The supergroup stayed in the neighborhood for a few extra days to serve as the house band for their longtime friend Marco Benevento’s wedding, where the ensemble was joined onstage by a full horn section, Joe Russo and the groom himself (The Slip’s Brad Barr and JFJO’s Reed Mathis also performed during the processional). On Monday Moore and Barr both crammed into Brooklyn’s Pete’s Candy Store for a rare duo performance. Barr played first, offering acoustic versions of “Life in Disguise” and “Ooh Belle,” among many other compositions. Moore then previewed some new material before bringing Barr back for an extended set what stretched well into the evening. While in New York, Moore also stopped by the Relix/Jambands.com offices to record his second appearance on Relix’s Cold Turkey podcast. Nodding to Benevento’s wedding, the singer/songwriter, who arrived in the office still wearing his wedding attire, offered “something old, something new, something barrowed and something blue.” Please click here to hear the episode.
