Surprise Me Mr. Davis (The Slip + Nathan Moore) will be ringing in 2009 with the Benevento/Russo Duo right at the heart of it all in Times Square NYC at the legendary B.B. King Blues Club.
This will be a late show starting after the ball drops, so if you're planning on seeing My Morning Jacket a few blocks away at MSG (a great idea by the way), better pace yourself and make it a double-header. An additional Northeast show has been added to round out the run and will be announced very soon, so stay tuned...
Aloha,
Brad

Okay I wasn't going to go to MMJ on NYE because I worry that New York will just be impossible to get around that night...but this extra little bit might be enough to make it all worth it.

Way too many acronyms...but here's another:
OMFG!!!
Yes, NYE in NYC...forget about cabs. Just walk. Find a hotel midtown and use your feet.
I just stayed at the Chelsea...real eclectic place (some rooms are like mini-suites with kitchenettes)....
with groovy paintings all over the stairwells and hallways. Freaky furniture and sculptures...artsy clientele.

P.S.: Just got 4 MMJ tix...Section 92, row D. There are some left on all levels, but none so far I've found on the floor at face.
Other ticket services (premium cost) have some floor tix, but they are pricey. Face is $40 + 10 fee so $50 and the premiums start at $80.

Now how did you get in front of me?
Guess the Loge is selling out...or sold out by now. The rest won't take much longer.
SMMD/Duo tix on sale where? Those will also sell out.
Book hotel now! I found dozens that looked decent, but after less than an hour of searching, a few of those had already sold out. Forget about suites...they're all taken. Try to get within 10 - 20 blocks (cabs suck on NYE).
Now wonder if MSG security will allow small bottles of champagne (like they did for the Flaming Lips/Wilco NYE a few years back)?

Tix went on sale Monday at
TicketMaster.
(wonder why I didn't find that in search before?)
Starts at 1:30 AM. So MMJ will be done by 1:15.
Should we expect to see Jim James at BB's???

I bet they play 1:30 to 4:30 or 5, roughly...if that's not late enough, there are tons of great bars that will rock all night (well past the dawn). It's New Year's Eve in New York City!!! BB's must have some kind of curfew...I don't think stamina of any of the musicians will be much of a factor (but we can't expect them to play 'til dawn, can we?). If we find out for sure we'll update this thread with details.
If you're thinking travel and/or crash plans, there are ways you can bridge any time gaps (hit a diner, head down to Lower East Side or Village, etc). I do not recommend staying up all night then driving anywhere! Easy to get trains if you want a cheaper hotel (than in Manhattan, which is like $500 and up for the few that are left!). [Let's see...$500 split 10 ways isn't so bad.

I just scored 4 tix. Definitely best to get 'em early...ya never know when they'll sell out. And TM surcharges are over $10 each.
