All I Saw Was You?

Post: # 21577Post Roar! »

Well, I heard this song on the 12-29-06 show, really like it. Was it ever studio recorded? Any other performances. Sorry for the question, I admit I am still quite a n00b. Thanks for your time. :D

Studio Recorded - There is (or was) a version on the SMMD MySpace site. This is the original version with the slow lyrics a capella.

Only Performance - No, it was played some in the original form (slow a capella > instrumental) by Davis and The Slip in 2005. In late 2006 I believe it returned to The Slip with lyrics and jam merged. They played it throughout 2007. Good versions that pop to mind would be 12/29/06, 12/31/06 and The Independent 4/28/07. Of course you can always check slipbase - http://www.phrazz.com/slipbase

Thank you there sir. Sorry if it's a recurring question, I'm still getting acquainted with the songs themselves and such. I still have yet to find some of the earliest albums out of print, as well as to even get the ones that are (save Angels Come On Time and Eisenhower). Just takes time and money. Money I don't have at the moment. :P Ah, the joys of youth.

Thank you for the link, though All I Saw Was You is not listed in the index.

Yeah Phrazz has some updating to do. I just go to the individual year pages and use my browser to search.

Thanks. :D Yeah, I've gotten around a dozen SMMD shows and about a half dozen Slip shows. Work in progress, and it helps in getting to know the songs. Plus, some just carry much more energy in the live setting.

they played the 'harmony' version at the Somerville Theater on 2005-11-11. I like the up version (see 2007-03-18) a lot better. In fact, the up version is pretty fucking dope.

Yeah I would vote for the 'up' version. I think it would be a strong opening track for an album... These guys should at least record another album before they forget all their new songs!
