1: Tombstone*, if You Knew, Summer of My Fall, Roses & Bottles, Im no Good At All, To You, Mardi Gras Song, Emily Greene, Sissyfuss, That's the Way, Ambrosia Drunk, Poor Boy, Nathan solo tune**

* just Nathan and brad on guitars, the other guys sang harmonies. ** after the band left the stage, nathan stayed and played a minute long or so short acoustic tune i'd never heard before.

Super fun show. Not much of a crowd, maybe 40-50 people when davis played, the room cleared out a bit after Land of Talk (or maybe everyone just got closer to the stage). Nathan told a story of how his friend saw Hot Buttered Rum out west recently and told him "they covered "Summer of my Fall" and was really excited that his tunes were "out there" and being played all around the country" as the intro for Summer. "Im no Good at All" kicked ass, andrew KILLED the beginning, thunderous! "To You" is always a treat and was particularly good tonight. "Sissyfuss" had a great extended middle jam with Nathan leaving the stage and then reappearing with a "magic" cane that seemed to orbit around his body and arms and stuff. pretty cool trick. Best tune of the night was "Poor Boy" IMO, got the crowd that stayed really into it and brad had a killer slide solo out at the front of the stage standing on nathan's monitor.

There was no encore because the Middle east are dicks and adhere to "a strict 12:30 curfew" despite it only being 12:26. People were cheering so loud that the band returned to the stage twice for bows but were not allowed to play a song. The "demo" CD that is streaming from the new website is also being sold on this tour for 10 bucks. It was funny to see the merch table with land of talk having a bunch of CD's and hoodies and shirts and stickers and crap and Davis having a couple demo Cd's lying around. I would much rather have the davis CD! LoT were good but Im very glad Davis headlined....anywho, super fun show, enjoy the rest of the run y'all. There was one taper i guess, clinton said his buddy had some mics, hopefully they'll pop up sometime.

they should have sung a capella at the end when taking their bows.

I think Tombstone was Nathan on one mic, sans guitar, and the other three around another mic with Brad on ukelele. Pretty sure actually.

High point was def To You. Killed it. Killed it dead.

Probably the best Davis show I've seen. I don't know how they got so good, but I'm seriously considering Noho now. Seriously.

i think youre right about the uke - i thought nathan had a guitar though. idk - i was talking to a friend in the back when they trickled on. fun show, nowhere near my top davis shows though

and SCS...a stage hand started taking down their mics as soon as nathan left the stage. they could have done an a capella tune sans PA i suppose

unlike you who saw your first davis show in april 2008. ive seen them 20+ times since 2005. highlights include a beautiful, intimate night at the sweetwater, raucous High Sierra sets, Camp Harry madness until dawn...so a 75 minute tour opening set at the middle east does not rank in my top davis shows, sorry

Huh. Crazy. All that experience and you still can't spot the epic set.

S'alright. Stick with me, son. You'll get there.

I would say that the middle east was my favorite Surprise Me show that I've seen since that first tour in 2004.

...ah well maybe not better than when i made it out for high sierra in 05. but it was great
