Providence Performing Arts Center, Providence, RI
1: (62min) Beggar in the Morning, Old Mythologies, Ooh Belle*, Give the Devil back his Heart, Kisses from Chelsea, Lord I Just Can't Keep From Crying, Darkness, Little Lover**, If You Leave Me***
* the second verse was flubbed and restarted because, according to Brad, a small fly landed on him and threw off his concentration. "Im very sensitive" he said. ** first verse was the band huddled around one mic a la Darkness then they moved to their instruments mid song. *** Brad teased "Heartbreaker" during the guitar/harp "duel" with Sarah
This show was at a 3,000 seat theater built in 1928 in downtown Providence that was part of a celebration for Providence's 375th birthday. Other performers included Deer Tick, Jeffrey Osborne (of the 1970's R&B band L.T.D) and some other local bands. There was 2 other stages in various parts of the venue (they played the main stage), street performers outside, fireworks, local food trucks, dancers, etc. Quite a diverse event. When the BBros played, the hall was pretty empty at the start but filled up quite a bit throughout their set. Brad noted that he and Andrew were very excited to play there, as it is Providence's biggest stage aside from the Dunkin Donuts Center (the local arena). He said he remembers seeing Phantom of the Opera and other events there as a child. The stage is really big (the venue usually hosts touring Broadway productions) and they were set back a bit to which brad quipped that most of the venues they play were the size of the stage itself. The sound system was crystal clear and they sounded great, definitely looking forward to next Thursday in Boston.
