Just for a brief recap... Workshop was the 1st set. They were supposed to go on right after Skerik's workshop (immediately, according to the schedule) but it took a while to set up. It was nice to hear Heart Shaped Box with the full band, and it doesn't seem like they've been doing Sarah Through The wall too much lately. The Workshop was pretty high concept according to the booklet and was going to involve discussing drones, pulses and rhythms but Brad basically said they weren't prepared for that and were just going to do some songs. England was good to hear too, though I associate that tune more with The Slip.

Big Meadow was great, I really liked Sleeping Operator (thanks to Andres for some help with song titles!) They did a bunch of songs with the Rubblebucket horns including another new one, Half Crazy. I though the horns added quite a bit! I noticed there's an AUD of this one on etree: http://bt.etree.org/details.php?id=565426

A lot of people expected a Camp Harry late night set which never happened either night, Brad did say on Nathan's webcast the other night that he and Jay Cobb Anderson from Fruition were out with their guitars looking for trouble on Sunday but Camp Harry was shut down and Ted Kartzman was sleeping in a chair! Just for the record I am not officially affiliated with Camp Harry in any way shape or form though I am friends with those guys and we are often camped nearby...

Vaudeville was a nice set. Kind of a talky crowd but oh well... a good number of people for a Sunday night. They did a few repeats as well as a few covers... Us and Them was pretty awesome even if a bit rough around the edges. Carly from the Mike Dillon band sat in on that on trombone. We did get Mike D on vibes for the return of Half Crazy. I'm not Tired was great, it made me miss Nathan! Also a Woody Guthrie cover which was done in a pretty rockin' style! Love is Enough is a reworked version of the Slip tune - "True Love Ain't Enough" with some different lyrics and a new B part, also a bit more uptempo.

Overall I had a lot of fun at these sets. I can't say I didn't miss The Slip and Davis, because I did, but I think the Barr Brothers had an extremely successful first High Sierra. I heard a lot of people talking about them around the festival. I was also pretty psyched to get some new material as the last couple of times I saw them they had done all stuff which I knew (and which was great, but I do like variety...) and some pretty intense improv as well, it seemed a bit more jammed out than your average BBros show, perhaps they were playing to the audience a bit, or just feeling the vibe!

Cool! Sounds like it was Multiple instances of a very nice time. I would like to hear them with the RubbleBucket section...that sounds interesting.

Any chance we could get these shows in MP3?

Yes I am allowed to circulate the audience only versions though which means no workshop as that was a Pre-FM feed. I've been meaning to work these up but have been swamped with work and other audio/video projects... A few others have asked me about these as well. I will get to them!

That would be awesome. Have you talked to the band at all about their official taping policy, now? I haven't seen nearly as many BBros shows for distribution over the course of the past year, or really since late 2011, from what I remember. I can understand them getting a bit more stringent on taping, although it saddens me.

I'm not aware of a specific policy which maybe is a good thing. My understanding which hasn't been contradicted by the band is that it is ok to circulate audience recordings unless asked specifically not to. As far as recording shows goes I think it is ok if allowed by the venue. It probably would be helpful to ask the band permission first. I know that Andres has been recording a lot of the shows recently so they can hear themselves.

That's interesting to hear, because Brad said he listened to 0 of the shows while in The Slip, if I remember correctly.
