Had to share cause I find this kind of funny...

My friends in Japhy Ryder got offerred a gig back in February at the Lion's Den in NYC on April 20th. At the time we all went 4/20 in the city?! That could be fun.. *wink, wink.. tee hee*

Turns out... it was no coincidence. The event is being sponsored by High Times mgazine, and they sent out a paragraph bio on them with the event listing to their 30,000 person e-mail list. That's some interesting publicity.

There's a link to put on the resume and send home to Mom. (Actually my bf Pat's Mom found out about it and called him up to yell at him, 'The first time I see your band in a magazine, it better not be THAT one!)'

I think it's all too amusing... too bad I'll be stuck in VT at work and will miss the hilarity of witnessing the event.

that's some good publicity, talk about targeting a choice demographic. too bad you won't be there, i'm sure the "refreshments" provided by the promoters will be of pretty good quality.

your boys got any plans on making it any further down south???

Yeah there's a great demographic for them... I can just imagine a room full of people zoning out in a trance to the instrumental music.

I have trouble keeping track of their all their upcoming dates untill the week or two before... I know they're working on putting together something in Boston soon (and possibly Providence) and hopefully more dates in New York and Connecticut during the summer. But, the trumpet player Will still has a year of college left, so they haven't been able to plan touring too widely outside New England and New York.

I'll keep you posted if I know of anything coming your way. (And if you've heard any of their stuff and know of a venue near you that might work well for them, definately let me know.) I'll probably be eating/sleeping/breathing their music in a month or two, as they're all moving in for the summer. And after spending 3 months living with 4 guys, I'll probably be counting the days till they travel next!
