There was an early show (8) and a late show (10). This slightly confused me and I showed up for most of Kaki's set from the early show. She was playing well, but obviously wasnt too into it. The crowd seemed a little uptight. I hadn't seen enough so I stayed for the late show as well. Jackie Greene played an opening set before Kaki came on again.
The crowd for the second show was much more relaxed, and Kaki seemed to appreciate it. She played some incredible stuff that I hadn't heard before, at least some of which was brand new. People were amazed (as usual), including a friend who hadn't heard much by her before.
there were several highlights (every song she played) but the final song she played was Carmine St. (3rd song from Everybody Loves You) and it was intense. I loved every moment. It was the third time I had seen her and definitely the most enjoyable.
I've heard people say that they dislike her banter between songs but I find her to be rather hysterical. I've also heard stories about her having a less-than-pleasant attitude towards people on more than one occasion, but I have no personal experience with such things.
If you have never seen her live before, it is definitely something worth checking out at least once
