No, and I didn't check out their previous one either -- but I had heard a lot of good things. Can someone describe what this stuff is like? Thanks!

Aren't the Black Keys from Akron?

They rock.

the black keys are from akron, ohio. akron/family is originally from central pennsylvania.

i've been enjoying 'meek warrior'. not what i had orginally expected though. i heard this was just a release to hold them over until their next album which will be more like a "full length" album. 'blessing force' is f'ng crazy, maybe my favorite son of the year.

GeMeNeYe- definitely check this band out, they're fucking great. i'd say listen to their self titled album for their folkier side and the akron family/angels of light split disc for their more rockin' side. check them out live too, that's a must. i saw them earlier in the year and it completely blew me away.

anyone have a chance to check out either 'akron' or 'tour album'?

The first half of the Akron/Family & Angels of Light split album is the closest thing to their live show they've released, and it's just incredible.

What is this stuff like?

"No lie, in thirteen tracks they meticulously fuse together (and I'm just going with a short-list here) post-rock, unassuming singer-songwriter, ambient, noise, found-sound, chamber-pop, psych-rock, traditional folk, and Mars Volta-esque prog-rock." - cokemachineglow
