Mountain Stage performance
I might have missed any broadcast near me. There was a nice sounding (128kbps) stream on an Athens station today. It was supposed to start at 3:00 but at 2:55 I tuned in to hear the last 2 seconds of The Slip's two tunes. Anyone by chance capture this somehow?

You can stream this program at will, next week ONLY.
Go to this site:
http://www.mountainstage.org/
scroll down and on the right and you will see "Post Script."
This is where you can stream a recent show in its entirety. Currently it features a tasty show featuring David and Louie from Los Lobos, Cracker and Jeff Lang - and (I think) next week it will have The Slip show.

You can now stream the show with The Slip and Larry Coryell at the Mountain Stage site.

Unfortunately, I don't have the technology, and no Georgia radio stations run Mountain Stage.
I too would be interested in the whole show (excepting Guster perhaps) if someone was able to capture.
Hey - I recommend you folks check out the stream from the week before as well. Every act is great in their own way - with Rodrigo y Gabriela being particularly impressive....as well as of course, Cracker and the Lobos lads.
And Larry Coryell, later in The Slip broadcast, is someone I'm sure that most of you are familiar with....but in case you're not - give him a listen too.

Slip + Duo at Knit - Cinco de Mayo 2002
Rob Turner's sig photo coincidentally looks a lot like this photo:Rob Turner wrote:I don't but if I had to guess, I would say one of those sessions in one of those small NYC clubs like Knitting Factory or Tonic circa 2004, maybe early 2005??Cleantone wrote:
PS, do you know what show that is in that pic?
Whoever took that shot must have been standing right next to me!!!
P.S.: It's quite flattering to have my photos appear all over the place. I guess I'm doing something right.
Cinco de Mayo 2002
Ok, now my brain train has returned to the station after looking at more of these photos. This was a great show and very nice to see BAM + DUO back at it, like the old days (Berkfest, where Marco sat in and at one point even replaced Marc at one of the gigs where he was sick). Only five years but a long way since then for both bands.
Now just after this show during load-out, we were milling around outside and I was bored, so I went down to the Tap bar to see who was playing. Upon entering a super quiet room I saw this little prodigy supergirl playing all tapitty-tap fingerstyle like Micheal Hedges' young neice:
My jaw dropped and I forgot everyone was still loading the van outside. So I blasted back up the stairs and shouted to Brad and Andrew, "Man, you guys have to come see this girl play like Michael Hedges!!!" and explained about this very young guitar prodigy playing all tappity tap and Brad said he was busy, but Andrew figured he'd take a look-see.
Well, after ten or twenty minutes people were starting to wonder what was keeping Andrew so long and started to trickle into the Tap Bar.
More draws jopped and the rest as we say is history. After that point, Kaki King got a connection with Velour Records and started opening for the Slip and I'd like to think I had something to do with that but it would have happened sooner or later anyways.
-Peace,
