Bonnaroo lineup, the slip included

I completely understand what you're saying about Phish (in comparing it to political discussion). i used to have heated arguments about the dead, phish and panic (in the south, the panic gets respect). But i can't even imagine having a similar discussion about bands anymore. I just don't care enough about what other people like, or more specifically, don't like to get that worked up about a band.
it makes sense that those arguments would happen though, with so many touring fans. when you spend that much money and time following a band around, you'll stand up for that band like it was your church, political party or SEC football team.

my friend elvis is in the lineup too. it's funny, i feel like he and the slip are having similarly parallel rises in their careers. they both: have the providence connection, did opening runs for my morning jacket, had articles in rolling stone (elvis' article is this month's edition- it's a page and a half), had a song be NPR's song of the day within weeks of each other, are playing bonaroo. and they're both friends of mine. how charming.
if you haven't already, do yourself a favor and listen to elvis perkins.
