Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. - RIP

Perhaps the greatest humorist this side of Mark Twain just passed away. I haven't had the time to read all of his works, but Vonnegut altered my mind-set permanently and acutely. He had a way at laughing at human failures and perhaps even foretold the end of the human race. There's a great interview of him recently in Rolling Stone.

We could have saved the Earth, but we were too damned cheap.

My three favorite authors are now all dead.

Richard Brautigan shot himself.
Douglas Adams died way too early of a heart attack.

At least Vonnegut made it to 84. We've lost one of our great spokespersons for basic human decency.

I love Richard Brautigan too. In Watermelon Sugar is one of my favorites.
