Thrice you have rescued me from falling grace;
once when I was a beggar and you were the rain on my face,
once when I was crippled and you carried me,
and once when the blindness of others taught me how to see.

well.. my band is headlining a festival on saturday in Youngstown, oh and then sunday JFJO is playing at the REX.. arts fest has been going on too so I've seen Moe. and Maceo Parker so far.. and YMSB played Hartwood..
not sure what the rest of the summer has in store for me.. I know I'm playing a couple more festivals.. and I'm going to see Counting Crows in August.. but that's about it...
with the baby it's a lot harder to see shows now.. but that's ok..

i have tickets to see Wilco w/ Bon Iver opening in Charleston, but I'm not sure I can make it because of a wedding.
Athfest (annually the best weekend of the summer) is this weekend, but i'm missing it for a wedding.
Tom Waits is sold out. Wish I could go to that, but I wasn't on the ball.
Basically, I'm off my game this summer, and probably won't see much at all.

saw MMJ in Montreal two nights ago already and it was incredible. upcoming:
6/24 - Jose Gonzalez @ Higher Ground
7/6 - Feist @ the Shelburne Musem
8/6 - Radiohead/Grizzly Bear @ Parc Jean-Drapeau
8/12 - Wilco/Andrew Bird @ Tanglewood
8/13 - Radiohead/Grizzly Bear @ Tweeter Center
9/6 - My Morning Jacket @ Bank of America Pavilion
9/20 - Sigur Ros @ somewhere in Montreal
though I'm thinking about getting rid of my tickets to the Mansfield Radiohead show because they're awful seats. row W, which is good, but at the very furthest edge of the venue. seats 1+2. I'll be seeing the band in profile. not good. plus that place is a terrible venue anyway. but then again I'm already going to be in Massachusetts for Wilco the day before anyway so I guess I might as well go anyway if I'm going to be in the same state.
also thinking about going to the Newport Folk Festival still, and/or maybe She & Him in Northampton on July 24. and I'd like to go see Bon Iver somewhere. he's playing in Montreal, and at the MFA in Boston, perhaps I can figure something out.
and yes I have spent a ridiculous amount of money on live music this year. too much money probably. but whatever, what else is worth spending money on?

i really recommend going to this. most of the wham city collective, including dan deacon, are graduates of my college, purchase, that ive seen play many times and are all really fucking fun. also go see fucking MATMOS, beach house, and Jana Hunter play if you go. They're all awesome.tim wrote: 7/18-19-20- whartscape fest feat. beach house, dan deacon, the black dice and many others
For this summer (all nyc dates)
7/4 - Sonic Youth
7/5 - Blues Control
7/18-19 Matmos
8/2 Vetiver
8/11 - Six Organ of Admittance and Loren Connors
in a fortunate turn of circumstance, i came home to visit my family and friends for a few days and got to see Spoon at Lupo's last night. fucking awesome show, that band is so brilliant I can't get over it. can't decide if that show or MMJ is the best I've seen this year (and can't decide which of those two is the best band of the moment, but it's definitely one of the two).
but yeah. highlights for me were a shiver-inducing, dual-keyboard rendition of The Ghost of You Lingers, a great setlist choice in back-to-back Don't Make Me A Target/My Mathematical Mind, an I Turn My Camera On that had the whole place getting down, and the closing cover of Rocks Off. oh man.
