I think it varies some too something like...

your wrapped up snug like a ?? that didn't come home

sometimes it sounds more like "wrapped up tucked" than snug.

?? could be "medical" something or "metal" something, or "little" something. I am not really sure.

That line used to be different in 1996 and the 1st half of 1997

here's what a cadenza is according to wikipedia:

So I found this online while searching for Solomon tabs and whatnot. It's the sax solo transcribed (loosely). It's written in F, so it's ready for any C instrument you got.

On the page, he said it was his best guess at transcribing it. So I can imagine the rhythm, if played straight, might be a little off.

I think his point about the rhythm was that Timo's off on the recording. The notes all look right to me.

Here's the turn around from the song, where they've been playing it in D:

D - F#7 - Bmin7 - D7/A - G - G#dmin - F#min11 - B7 - Emin7 - C7

That starts from the lyric "and your sorrows...."

So, as the fateful napkin reads:

I - III7 - vi - I7/V - IV - #IVdmin - iii(min11) - V7 - iimin7 - VII7 (these last three chords are filling out the rest from theory nerdery).

Brad said it was a common "Gospel" type progression. I'll have to look into this, as I'm not quite as familiar.

on the Emin7, they have been doing kind of a chromatic run upwards. you can keep the Emin shape loosely and hit the F#, G, then switch to that G# chord, and so on...

You mean the D triad? Like this? xx978x?

I like to call that the third inversion...it's really just a fragment of the open C chord. But yeah, they hit that at E minor for a G, then down a whole step to F, then down to the D position, then back up to F, to G, back to D. It's basically a blues type major progression of I IIIb IV.

Unless you mean something else...
