Brad Barr solo 2/27/2003 - setlist?

Post: # 24241Post Phrazz »

I'm listening to a crispy Cleantone FLAC from 2/27/2003 of Brad Barr solo, and was looking for the text (setlist).

Brad says to the audience (on d1t2, 16 min epic guitar solo):

"Thanks everybody for coming down tonight.
This is my first time performing by myself...
I guess you could say it's a little bit of a challenge
to sort of think about you know you have an hour
of time to be yourself and come across and play
the music that you've spent your whole life
accumulating in your head, and I saw this as a
great opportunity, and I'm glad you came down
here as well. (applause)

Not to mention that I was scared shitless!!"

The Slip setlist from Slipbase on same day:

02/27/2003: Tribeca Rock Club: New York, NY
Set I: Song, Marry Mary Shelly, Through the Iron Gate, Shiver, bluesy improv, Memories of You, Sometime's There's Wine, Alsoa, Poor Boy
Notes: Brad Barr solo. [Casey - cisforcasey at hotmail]

Is that one still hosted? I'd love to listen to it.

This was actually a Bill Mulvey recording. I didn't go to this show. At least I think that is the way it is...

I think that SlipBase has the exactly correct setlist for this...

Oh, I was pretty looped when I wrote that...of course it's a Brad Barr setlist...my eyes must have crossed!!!

As for the Mulvey FLACs, do you think he'd be OK if I reposted the MP3s? I'm not sure he may have been adamant about no lossy. Brad's guitar playing on his first solo show is sizzling! [Also, I don't seem to have Bill's email or digits anymore...otherwise I'd ask him myself.]

I don't think it matters (mp3/flac) this show was never really supposed to get out abyway. I forget how it made it's way out but I do remember being with Brad when he found out that the recording was circulating. He wasn't too jazzed. This is his very first solo performance. I don't think Bill is too worried about lossy/lossless at this point either. I don't know for sure.

fair enough. that said, quality wise, both the recording and brad's performance are top notch. crystal clear recording and brad's singing and playing on this show is really some of his best!

Brad can be pretty critical of his own performances. This conversation spurred me to listen to this show yesterday and I think Brad sounds great on this. The crowd is kind of chatty and he does talk about being scared shitless but his playing is great. I think I like the Marry Mary Shelly even better solo than with the Slip!
