I don't think The Slip is done for good... but I wouldn't hold my breath. Marc is living out in the SF Bay Area. He had been playing in Big Light with Fred Torphy but that seems to have fizzled as well. Brad and Andrew still seem pretty committed to the Barr Brothers. I've heard the same things about a Slip album but haven't heard any tracks. My guess is we will see SMMD before we see The Slip. Davis also has a new album recorded which is probably closer to being finished.

thats cool, when is the new barr bros album suppose to come out? I'd be interested to see if there are any tracks on it that they havent played live as kinda a way to surprise us.

Anywhere I can listen to the big light stuff? Always meant to check it out. I had no idea that was Fred Torphy...I remember him as the one who requested Chrystanthemum from a slip SF NYE show.

There is stuff out there. I'm not really sure what became of the album they worked hard on. I recorded Fred doing some vocals and overdubs a couple summers back on Cape Cod. We did a track for Rock Band with them too.

I have a number of Big Light recordings, mostly from the earlier years 2007-2010. I'm not exactly sure what the status of those is in terms of sharing them though I'll ask Fred next time I see him. They did release an album in 2010 - Animals in Bloom, but that was before Marc was playing bass for them full time. Here's one to wet your whistle: mp3/bl2010-08-04.zip

That one is with Steve on bass, not Marc I believe.

Thanks for the links. Haven't been lurking around these parts as much lately, so I'll try to catch up on this stuff. I'm generally excited to hear what Marc does where ever he goes. He's got an incredible sense for melody and is a pretty phenomenal musician.
