So it has come to my attention that there was some artwork stolen from the Kuumbua. It was a very well done framed picture of Billie Holiday. Now I can't imagine how someone got it out the door, nor can I believe that one of OUR fans would have done something so disrespectful. The Kuumbua is a wonderful non-profit organization that brings only the best music to Santa Cruz, and have now had to pay the artist from their own pocket. It was not cheap. When I received this phone call from the club, I can't tell you the feeling that came over me. In no way was this a "cool" thing to do, and Billie herself would smack you. I would love to prove them wrong, and assure them that our fans would never do such a thing. If one of you have, I am asking you to return the print. No questions asked, just bring it to The Kuumbua, drop it off and leave. Done. Also, if there is anyone feeling guilty and knows something...please speak up. It's all about karma folks.
