Not sure if you have graced over at our old friend Graffiti

Someone posed as "Jumby" claims they have the new studio album and will gladly give it out.

There was a complete lockdown on the site today to parse for that person.

jumby@hotmail.com was the person.

farse or not

Jumby is a jinormous joke

Post: # 8757Post Phrazz »

They shut the site down to peruse weblogs? That's not good...it doesn't look like a "complete lockdown" at all, it looks like a malfunction.

I strongly suspect this was just a stupid joke (read the wording carefully). I admire everyone jumping up to defend, but this is a non-issue, IMO.

Now taking on China is a whole 'nother can of arsenic... [Don't Go There]

Don't worry...the next commercial release will sell like gangbusters! And frets are for guitars!

theslip.com having problems

Now the whole site is down. As a fan, it is unbelievable that someone would stoop so low. However, since the fanbase has increased in a strange dimension (kiddie video gamers), strange occurrences may only get worse. Time for double-secret probation

whoa, i just saw this thread.

dan dont be such a drama queen. who gives a shit? i dont. im so tired of waiting for this album, i dont care when it comes out. let it bleed out, people will still buy it when it comes out. i see the people who already have a copy of it bitching about the post, thats a little hypocritical.

if management, was so worried, why dont they put out a stop gap release, a single, ep, something.

Maybe it's just been so long since a tidbit of information has come out that I'm growing cynical, but I agree. I for one don't know any 'fan' that would be jumping up and down to get a bootleg copy from a sketchy source. Maybe people who've just stumbled upon The Slip because of Even Rats would, but really, we don't need to add fuel to the fire by making it a big deal.

I think the real issue at hand here is something we've all been saying for quite a while. There needs to be a way for posts to be deleted quickly and easily by someone who is readily available or can check in with graffiti frequently. The recurring spam over there was bad enough, but to have potential copyright infringement just sitting there cause you can't delete it? That's ridiculous. It should've just been deleted and the IP tracked down just in case it isn't a joke, in which case a lawsuit could potentially help fund it's release.

It is not that simple. I feel like this post was bullshit. Fingers crossed! The email addy just happens to be active in China but has nothing to do with this post. I hope. If the album leaks and got to P2P sites it could easily cost a record contract that could make or break the career for them. So there is a lot at stake. They are not just sitting on it for fun. More effort has gone into this record than probably anything they have done before. They probably should have never mentioned working on it a year ago. Then there would be less desire from the fans.

katie and tone, i agree with both your posts. its not cool to leak albums, but man am i tempted sometimes to check out albums when they are. does that make me evil?

so still no record contract?! fuck! that means it may not even come out this year. :x

Cleantone: No, it's not easy to remedy those kind of things it if it does happen (I was joking about a lawsuit, it'd cost more money to do that than it'd help in the end...). But starting with being able to remove any posts on graffiti about it would make a huge difference, and yeah that's a pretty simple thing to be able to do compared with the prospect of trying to monitor other places on the web where it could potentially leak.

But all that aside, yeah, this one is probably bullshit. They should delete the post and let's forget about it.

ps: Let's minimize links to it from here to keep from spreading the gossip, shall we?

in the past, we've stated how a format like this is much better than the old set up of the graffiti.. why not get the graffiti a phpBB page.. their much easier to monitor and what not... just an idea..
(*Disclaimer* Not saying we should use sliplive as the graffitti... different entities... plus I don't want to see a whole bunch of poetry over here... that's right.. I said it... *disclaimer*)
