Best hip hop/rap albums ever?

Some of you folks seem to like hip hop a lot. I dabble in the beats occasionally, but not too much. Outkast, Deltron, Quasimoto, J5, beastie boys, is about as far as i go.

So tell me what y'all think are the best hip hop or rap albums ever made.

when i think of best ever, the first thing that comes to my mind is the Chronic or Doggystyle, but a lot of stuff has come out since then.

Jay-z, B.I.G., beastie boys, wutang clan, kanye west, tupac, public enemy, ice cube are all big names. who is/was the best? Outkast is my favorite.

obviously it's hard to say any great musician is better than any other. it's all opinions. so keep that in mind, as always.

have you had a chance to check out spank rock? they're from around here and sorta blew up in '06, been getting alot of good press. it's crazy cause this time last year they were doing my buddies' warehouse parties now they're one of thom yorkes favorite acts.

how do y'all think Outkast compares in the big scheme of things?

I haven't heard anything better, and I feel like I've listened to 90 percent of what's been named in this thread.

Southernplayalisticadillacmusik, ATLiens and Aquemini are all insanely good. Not a fan of the poppier new stuff though.

outkast are definitely one of the greater duos, no doubt about that. all of those albums are classic along with stankonia. they've always been "out there" but andres 3000 sorta lost me after speakerboxxx/the love below. i definitely liked big boi's part of that album much better. if i never hear "hey ya" again, that'll be alright with me.

oh yeah, has anyone else been watching the white rapper show on vh1? it's such a trainwreck but so funny to watch. definitely rooting for shamrock at this point, he seems like the only one who's gotten any better as the show has progressed. they're all pretty much only good for laughs though. i'm looking forward to them getting their asses handed to them tonight when they try and battle in detroit. hallelujah hollerback!

I love that show! Even tho they are all WACK! But I do agree that Shamrock has improved the most and generally seems to be the least wack. Too bad the Bean was repped by Sullee. He was weak. But what an entertaining show. And John Brown is just crazy. There is a blank, crazy look in his eyes at all times. Hallelujah Holla Back!


I saw Spank Rock make a bunch of year end lists so I DL'ed the album but haven't heard it yet. I saw them on Kimmel and wasn't impressed.....

As far as Outkast, yah they're geniuses and you have to love them, but they stopped being straight up hip hop a while ago, somewhere around Aquemini(whick rocks)......I didn't like the ATL sdtk at all. But SouthernPlayalistic is a classic.
