I've been sort of annoyed lately. Paris Hilton gets an hour to talk about her bullshit on CNN and because I assume as most people are obsessed with her celebrity they will pay no heed to what the Supreme Court just did. These are just my opinions.
Justice Stevens in his opinion declared: "... indeed, the history books do not tell stories of white children struggling to attend black schools. In this and other ways, The Chief Justice rewrites the history of one of this Court's most important decisions...."

It is tragic that the reputation the US gained as an archetype of liberty and equality by the one of the most crucial decisions the Supreme Court ever made in Brown vs. Board of Education was completely thrown away based on some twisted logic. This landmark decision is one we are now stuck with. Any effort addressing the economic, institutionalized racism of attempting to provide minorities with access to safer, better schools is forever dead in our country.

im a little thrown off by the entire situation because its all very confusing. to sum it up, the school established racial diversity plans to meet a certain percent of minorities.
the majority of the supreme court voted against this because they believed that race cannot be a determining factor because "the constitution is colorblind." the white families want the ability to enter any school and feel that they have equality rights taken away by the diversity plans. most african americans are disgusted that this is even compared to the brown vs board of education decision.
with all the bigots in out society and those running schools, i would be surprised if less and less african americans are accepted into schools now that there is no law to ensure the equal rights. we need the plans to ensure these rights because their is still so much racism. maybe when there isnt, this supreme court decision would be appropriate. but as long as there is, its the only way to ensure the rights. the constitution is colorblind but people arent
