I dunno if this is relevant or not, but I always got the impression that BAM might have a connection to the pub owners here because there seemed to have been quite a few shows at this place in Brookline. I'd since moved to the area going on 10 years ago and always meant to try to make it out there (I'm on the opposite side of the river), but sadly never did. Anyway, it looks like the pandemic might have gotten them. I saw a local blogger post this update today:

Re: Matt Murphy's Pub has Closed
My understanding is that the connection to Murphy's was through bartender and all-around stand up guy, Jason - not ownership. Eventually ownership put the nix on the music and he left to start a place in JP.
Matt Murphy's Pub definitely has a special place in my memories. Those Geoff Scott Public Houses were something else. I also remember seeing "the lips" there once on Valentine's Day

Curious to what spot that was in JP and if it's still around?
Re: Matt Murphy's Pub has Closed
Hmm. I can't remember what it was called. If I find out I'll update this post.
Re: Matt Murphy's Pub has Closed
The spot Jason started in JP maybe 10-12 years back is The Haven, which recently relocated to a new larger spot and I hear some music is part of the plan.
